I walked my usual five blocks to the grocery store. I've been carrying reusable bags ever since moving into the city and feel so happy that we're working toward being plastic bag free.
It's cumbersome - for some reason, my grocery store will not bag your groceries if you bring your own bags. And imagine a lane where a grocery cart doesn't fit. So you are working steadily between hurrying your groceries on the conveyer, running to the employee telling her you'd like to use your own bag, running back to empty the cart and push away, running to the end of the lane bagging as quickly as you can, running back to pay, and running back to finish bagging. Because they don't wait for you. The next person's groceries will be running into yours.
So as I'm doing the grocery line mambo bagging, and placing them in my granny cart for the 5 block ride home, the next gentleman in line comes up and says, "Can you double bag my order?".
Awesome.
